Fort Jackson Basic Training Videos

I found these videos about Basic Training at Fort Jackson. Right now Jordan is in the Reception phase. Thought these were interesting. Gives you an idea of what it is like there. It actually looks nicer than I thought. I mean it isn't a resort or anything, but not quite as bad as it could be. The barracks look pretty nice. Not much privacy with like 60 guys to a room, but clean! So I haven't heard anything more from Jordan but I am assuming he is doing this type of stuff right now. So I asked Jordan before he left what he was worried about the most once he got there. I thought he would say the 50 ft wall, or the drill Sargents breathing down your neck, or maybe even the food. All Jordan said he was worried about....were the shots! He even went to the Dr. to get his immunization record hoping he was up to date and wouldn't have to get any. But I have a feeling they will stick you anyway! According to the video, it takes about 25 secs to one minute for the nurses to do their job. In that time I think they are supposed to get about 5 or 6 shots. So I would say that is pretty efficient! Sorry Jordan....looks like you are going to get the shots whether you want to or not!

So anyway...thought these were interesting! The first link is part one and the second is part two.

  1. WOW, these videos were a great help. The place isn't as barbaric as I thought they were going to be. Jordan just called us - what a wonderful surprise! He sounds exhausted, has been up for 17 hours and apparently had to pull "fire duty" in the middle of the night. It's only the beginning...

  2. Yeah he sounded tired when I talked to him. I haven't heard anything since so I assume he is doing well. He thought he might go on to the actual training either today or next Mon.

Coleden found this bottle of Aleve (package says extra strength lasts up to 12 hours) and asked me what it was. I told him it was medicine. ...
