Phone call 1 1/2 HOUR call!!

This past weekend we were at one of the homeschool conventions. On the way home Lorelei got sick...twice...once in the motorhome and once in KFC! YUCK! Well we decided to skip church this morning just in case. She seems to be feeling fine now. But I got another surprise this morning. Jordan called and said he would have an hour and a half to talk!! I guess the DS said she didn't want to deal with them and gave them their phones! It was so nice to actually get to talk! He is doing well. I guess he only has about 3 weeks of actual training left. Then he starts outprocessing or something! He did his rifle training and got sharp shooter. He was happy but he was hoping for expert. Only about 45 out of 1300 guys got that! But I was able to update him on our plans. Lorelei and I will be moving down to GA in less than a month now. We will be able to get on post housing it looks like so we will be nice and close. We aren't totally sure how much time he will be able to see us (some people say not too much at all and other people see their spouses everyday...we are hoping for the latter!) So we will be moving right after graduation. Jordan and I will go there to choose a place and then my parents will be coming up shortly after to help me move in. Jordan only has a day or so, so they will actually get us all settled. Then I have a conference but will be back in GA after that. It will be nice to be close. I can do his laundry, run errands, or anything he needs to try to lighten the load so he can focus and study! OCS is supposed to be a lot harder than basic, so he will need to focus.
Lorelei got to talk to her daddy too! She was so excited....she babbled on and on. Then one of his friends sent a picture text so she got to see him too....in uniform! He looks good! He is one of the only guys not to loose much weight. Joe is trying to help me figure out how to post it from my phone. I am not very technology savvy but I am learning!
He did say his foot was better (thanks for the prayers!) but now he is worried about his hip. (the poor boy is falling apart...at 23...lol!) He has had hip problems for awhile. He sometimes throws it out but usually it works itself back. Well last week they were running and he had shin splits for the first time. Then he threw out his hip. He said it was the worst time ever. But of course, Jordan won't go to the medic. He is worried they will have to take xrays and he won't be able to do PT for the week again. If he misses it again, he may not be able to graduate. So he just really wants to tough it out and hope it doesn't happen again. The DS did say that almost every cycle someone breaks their hip. So more prayers would be appreciated! He is really hoping that it doesn't happen again and that he can stay fit. They just started getting some free time to work out, so he said he is going to go with some of the guys. Hopefully build up some muscle strength and that might help with his injuries!
They had a concert last night. A Christian country singer. Jordan said it was good. Nice to kick back and take a break. Plus they got pizza, pop, and candy! A dream come true I guess! I asked him what he missed most about home, besides family and stuff. He said "relaxing"! He said all the guys talk about how much they just miss sitting down and taking a break. So hopefully he can relax a little before OCS starts! He said he also just misses everyday life....the news...music...that sort of stuff!
So we were really happy to hear from him. He filled me in on some of his friends and some of the guys getting kicked out. Got to figure out all his graduation stuff. Tell him some funny Lorelei stories. Fill him in on stuff happening here. Just normal again! It is just a little over a month now left (32 days I believe!). He is excited to see everyone again either at graduation or when he finally gets some leave! He is really enjoying learning new skills but he will be glad when "real life" starts again.

  1. I am so happy he got to talk to you for so long! It will certainly build his morale and help his resolve to stay strong. We're praying for his health, his foot and now his hip! We received another letter from him this week and I know he was really focused on the rifle range. Sharp shooter is pretty good! We're so proud...

Coleden found this bottle of Aleve (package says extra strength lasts up to 12 hours) and asked me what it was. I told him it was medicine. ...
