Dorothy's Paper about The Army

The Army
Part Two

by Dorothy Koopsen

If you want to join the Army you have to go to Basic training. To be an officer, you have to go to Officer School in Ga. My brother in law, Jordan, is at Basic training now. After he graduates from OCS, he will be 2nd Lieutenant. They have to salute when higher officer sees them.
They have to exercise a lot. They do chin ups, sit ups, push ups, and running. At training they learn to fight, they learn first aid, how to march, about guns, and more. They wear a uniform. They are green and brown. They get insignia when they do a good job. My brother in law will have a gold bar. It goes on their uniform.
I will be going to his graduation in a few weeks. It will be interesting to see where they train and what they do. There is also a water park we will go to.
